In the years leading up to his murder, Charlie Kirk, founder of Turning Point USA (TPUSA), shifted the organization away from libertarian values towards a dominionist Christian nationalist ideology. This trend seems to be continuing under current leadership, especially through TPUSA Faith, which is hosting a “pastor roundtable” featuring prominent Christian nationalists like Oklahoma state Sen. Dusty Deevers and former Trump official William Wolfe. Both individuals are linked to extreme Christian nationalist Doug Wilson, known for controversial views, including opposition to women’s voting rights.
Deevers has expressed strong anti-separation of church and state sentiments and believes civil leaders should submit to Christ’s authority, while Wolfe has called for militant action against perceived threats from Democrats, whom he labels as Marxists. Together with others, they drafted The Statement on Christian Nationalism and the Gospel, advocating for laws that reflect Christian values, such as abolishing abortion and outlawing marriage equality.
The roundtable is co-sponsored by the Center for Baptist Leadership and American Reformer, both aiming to realign the U.S. with its Protestant heritage. This event underscores the growing influence of jingoism, dominionism, and religious nationalism within TPUSA, signaling a clear push for a theocratic nationalist agenda.
