Heath Druzin, a reporter and former Boise State Radio journalist, will discuss Christian nationalism and political extremism’s impact on democracy during events in the Wood River Valley. His 2022 podcast, “Extremely American,” delved into far-right groups aiming to reshape America, and he will offer strategies for engaging in productive dialogue in polarized times.
Druzin will speak on Thursday, Jan. 22, at The Community Library in Ketchum, moderated by Martha Williams, and on Friday, Jan. 23, at the Senior Connection in Hailey, moderated by Brian Johns. Both discussions are free; registration is encouraged. The Community Library’s event will also be livestreamed and recorded.
These talks, organized by Idaho Solutions as part of its “The More You Know” series, aim to foster understanding of Christian nationalism and its growing influence, particularly in Idaho. Druzin’s follow-up podcast in 2025 focuses on the attempts to establish a theocracy, tracing the movement through influential figures like Doug Wilson in Moscow, Idaho. He has extensive reporting experience, including as a war correspondent and has contributed to NPR, BBC, and the Daily Beast.
Martha Williams emphasized Druzin’s integrity and curiosity in addressing this topic, while Chenele Dixon noted the importance of engaging with complex issues to build civic trust among Idahoans.
