Right-wing podcaster Candace Owens has been spreading conspiracy theories regarding the alleged assassination of Charlie Kirk, founder of Turning Point USA (TPUSA). Owens, who previously worked at TPUSA, implicates various groups such as the FBI and foreign entities in Kirk’s death. Her unsubstantiated claims are reportedly causing discord within TPUSA, leading to employee firings linked to dissenting opinions about Kirk’s death narrative.
A former TPUSA public relations manager, Aubrey Laitsch, suggested that her termination may have stemmed from her questioning the mainstream narrative surrounding Kirk’s death, reflecting a wider concern among some staff about the organization’s intolerance for alternative viewpoints. Although TPUSA did not attribute her firing to her beliefs, the situation highlights a broader crisis within right-wing circles, where distrust in institutions is affecting internal dynamics.
This isn’t the first indication of Owens’ influence causing rifts in the right. At a recent TPUSA event, prominent figures criticized Owens for promoting conspiratorial views. Overall, the rise of conspiracy theories within right-wing media poses risks not only to public trust but also to organizational unity within conservative movements.
