Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton announced legal action against the Screwston Anti-Fascist Committee, a Houston-area group accused of doxing alleged neo-Nazis and far-right members. Paxton claims the group may violate state laws by aiding terrorism through the publication of private information online. He described the group as “radical leftists” undermining the law and vowed to pursue legal options rigorously.
Screwston, formed in 2016, aims to combat fascism in Houston and shares personal details about individuals connected to far-right groups, including Patriot Front, a white nationalist organization. The committee sells merchandise with anti-racist slogans and has supported legal funds for those arrested following a shooting related to a July 4 protest in Alvarado, which injured a police officer.
Nine defendants from that incident are set for trial on federal charges, marking the first federal prosecution of alleged “antifa” members. This legal action by the AG follows his intent to conduct undercover investigations into left-wing violence, citing recent events like the Alvarado shooting.
