Vermont Senator Bernie Sanders is currently on a nationwide “Fighting Oligarchy” tour, aiming to raise awareness about what he perceives as a political and economic system dominated by billionaires. Speaking on Katie’s podcast, he reported that he has engaged with over 300,000 people across 21 states, attracting a diverse audience that includes Independents and some Republicans alongside progressives.
Sanders emphasizes that the wealth generated in the U.S. disproportionately benefits the top tier, leaving many feeling economically stressed despite the country’s overall wealth. He advocates for grassroots mobilization as the path to real change, targeting Republican districts to organize local communities. His initiatives include supporting political candidates at various levels to build grassroots political power.
As dissatisfaction with the Democratic Party rises—only 38% view it favorably compared to 43% for Republicans—Sanders critiques party leaders for being too influenced by wealthy interests and neglecting the needs of working-class Americans. He reiterates the need to address inequality and advocate for the working class to combat the oligarchy.
