A group of supporters for Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto and Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka plans to create a cyber team to counter disinformation and negative narratives about the free nutritious meal program (MBG). Ricky Tamba, a representative from the Jaringan 98 volunteer organization, accused critics of spreading slander about MBG, particularly concerning a recent incident involving the alleged poisoning of students. He claimed that misleading information had connected a student’s death in West Bandung to MBG despite investigations showing no link.
Ricky emphasized the importance of combating fake news, which he believes fuels unrest and misinformation. Seven volunteer organizations supporting Prabowo have united under the Great Indonesia Alliance with the goal of counteracting these narratives. The head of the National Nutrition Agency, Dadan Hindayana, clarified that the student’s death was not related to MBG, noting that investigations are still pending due to parental restrictions on autopsy procedures.
