The Ministry of Information and Broadcasting has advised social media users to refrain from sharing sensational ‘breaking news’ regarding military actions, particularly false claims about the U.S. allegedly preparing to strike Iran from Pakistan. This misinformation has spread from propaganda pages linked to Afghan and Indian sources, falsely suggesting U.S. aircraft were being used for military operations against Iran.
In a fact-check announcement on X, the ministry dismissed these claims as unfounded, citing a Reuters report that revealed increased U.S. aerial refueling activities were directed towards Europe, not Pakistan. The ministry stated that no credible evidence supports the claims regarding U.S. military setups in Pakistan and urged the public to avoid disseminating misleading information unless verified by reputable sources.
Additionally, Information Minister Attaullah Tarar emphasized a commitment to countering terrorism narratives. He affirmed the unity of the nation against terrorist elements, stressing that terrorism has no connection to Islam or the state. The minister highlighted the establishment of the National Paigham-e-Amman Committee to foster a harmonious message throughout the country and combat extremist propaganda. He called for a collective responsibility to ensure minority rights while promoting peace and Islamic teachings.
