Bridge Work is a collaborative initiative in the Midwest aimed at supporting emerging artists in their career development. Founded in 2015 by educators in Wisconsin, Iowa, and Nebraska, the program connects art school graduates to their professional paths, culminating in solo exhibitions. The selected artists for the 2025-27 class include Charlotte Easterling, Maile Lloyd, and Adam Raiford Wilson.
Easterling, whose work is influenced by her Oglala Sioux and Anishinaabe heritage, incorporates legends and natural themes into her art. She is recognized for her participation in the Wisconsin Biennial and values creating a positive artistic community. Lloyd focuses on human subjects in her paintings, integrating photography for inspiration, and appreciates the collaborative environment provided by Bridge Work. Wilson specializes in “knob boxes,” blending sculpture and painting to critique consumerism, and plans to further his studies in Japan.
Bridge Work emphasizes collaboration, skill development, and community support, fostering a nurturing space for artists transitioning into their careers. For more details, you can visit their website at artlitlab.org/programs/visual-arts/bridge-work-madison.
