Netflix co-CEO Ted Sarandos expressed his surprise and disappointment regarding James Cameron’s support for what he termed a “disinformation campaign” by Paramount. Sarandos refuted claims from Cameron about Netflix contemplating a 17-day theatrical window for Warner Bros releases, asserting that the company’s policy has consistently been a 45-day window. Cameron had previously warned lawmakers about the potential dangers of a Netflix acquisition of Warner Bros, suggesting it could harm the cinema experience. Sarandos emphasized that he had clearly communicated Netflix’s commitment to theatrical releases during a meeting with Cameron in December, and reaffirmed this stance in testimony before the Senate. The ongoing negotiations between Warner Bros Discovery and Netflix continue, with a shareholders meeting set for March 20 to finalize the deal.
