Charlamagne tha God criticized Democratic leaders for inconsistently engaging with President Donald Trump while labeling him a fascist. In an interview with Mediaite, he pointed out that such friendly interactions undermine their warnings about Trump. He referenced a moment when former President Barack Obama laughed with Trump at Jimmy Carter’s funeral, questioning the appropriateness of such behavior towards a fascist. He also criticized President Joe Biden for calling Trump a “threat to democracy” while welcoming him to the White House after the 2024 election.
Charlamagne expressed dismay at statements from figures like New York City Mayor-elect Zohran Mamdani, who described Trump as a fascist but still suggested cooperation. He emphasized that collaborating with someone labeled a fascist normalizes that ideology, diminishing the gravity of the term. He highlighted the potential societal fear when calling someone a fascist, contrasting it with politicians’ cordial interactions.
Charlamagne also addressed his ongoing critiques of House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries, dismissing Jeffries’ recent jab as “corny” and reinforcing his right to criticize elected officials.
