Weingarten emphasized the importance of protecting children and stated that both her account and the AFT’s would stop posting on X. She expressed her decision was difficult but necessary, advocating for a shift to platforms like Bluesky, Substack, Threads, Instagram, or Facebook. The AFT has also been vocal in other matters, such as calling for ICE to stay away from schools.
