The Press Information Bureau (PIB) has identified an AI-generated fake video of Army Chief General Upendra Dwivedi, spread by Pakistani propaganda accounts. The video, which falsely portrays General Dwivedi commenting on the custodial death of climate activist Sonam Wangchuk, has been confirmed as entirely fabricated. PIB urged citizens to rely on verified sources and avoid sharing unverified content. This warning follows a pattern of similar disinformation efforts, including another fabricated video suggesting General Dwivedi proposed handing over Arunachal Pradesh to China. Additionally, a separate fake video targeting President Droupadi Murmu was also disseminated, falsely claiming she warned about extremism and threats to minorities. PIB confirmed that both officials never made such statements and emphasized the need for vigilance against misinformation.
