On November 9, 2025, the Dakshin Health Summit will convene in Hyderabad, uniting esteemed dermatologists to address pressing issues in the field, including unqualified practitioners, rampant steroid abuse, and social media misinformation.
Organized by South First and chaired by Dr. Rajetha Damisetty, the summit will not focus on showcasing aesthetic trends but rather engage in critical discussions about the ethical and scientific integrity of dermatology. With widespread accessibility of topical steroids leading to public health concerns and a rise in premature hair loss among young Indians, the summit’s timing is pivotal.
The event will kick off with remarks from Telangana’s Health Minister and feature six key panel discussions on topics such as quackery, early-onset hair loss, aesthetic trends, steroid abuse, skin health and aging, and the impact of social media on beauty standards.
Distinguished participants from various fields, including law, public health, and academia, will contribute to these deliberations, emphasizing the need for multi-disciplinary collaboration to tackle the challenges facing dermatology. The summit aims to inspire lasting change by fostering honest conversations and advocating for better regulations, repositioning dermatology as a science-based specialty amidst ongoing threats from misinformation.
