The Friends For Friends Foundation, along with ING Bank Romania, is hosting the Takeover Disinfo event on November 5 in Bucharest. This initiative aims to help journalists combat disinformation by providing them with insights from international experts. Notable guests include Martin Fornusek from The Kyiv Independent, Kuek Ser Kuang Keng from the Pulitzer Center, Gernot Wolfram from Macromedia University Berlin, and Alina Radu from Ziarul de Gardă.
The event will feature a panel discussion, a masterclass on the impact of technology on disinformation, and a workshop addressing how to navigate fictionalized politics. Participation is free but requires registration by November 5. Organizers emphasize the need for journalists to gain tools and knowledge to tackle the pressing issues of disinformation, particularly in light of its influence during last year’s presidential elections.
Silvia Jalea from ING Bank highlighted the importance of a strong press in democracy, stressing the need for quality information in informing public decisions and combating misleading narratives. The event is part of a broader series of workshops aimed at enhancing journalistic skills in the fight against fake news and misinformation.
