U.S. Senator Bernie Sanders is bringing his “Fighting Oligarchy” tour to Wheeling, West Virginia, on August 8 at the Capitol Theatre, which accommodates around 3,000 attendees. No tickets are required, but RSVPs are requested. Doors open at 3:30 p.m., with the program starting at 6 p.m. Attendees must follow several restrictions, including no signs, weapons, or large bags.
The tour, which has attracted over 270,000 participants across 15 states, focuses on issues such as income inequality, quality job opportunities, health care for all, and the influence of billionaires and corporations in politics. Sanders highlights the need to combat the oligarchy and claims that many attendees are new supporters, with about two-thirds not previously on his list.
Furthermore, Sanders is recruiting progressive candidates and has organized several events in key congressional districts. After Wheeling, he will visit Lenore and Charleston, West Virginia, followed by rallies in North Carolina.
