The Chinese Embassy in Dhaka hosted a seminar on September 1, 2025, to mark the 80th anniversary of the World Anti-Fascist War victory. Chinese Ambassador Yao Wen emphasized the importance of safeguarding peace and resisting historical distortion. He noted China’s significant contributions as the main battlefield in Asia during the struggle against fascism, describing it as a triumph of justice over evil.
The seminar, titled “Shared Memory and Contemporary Mission,” attracted distinguished attendees, including government officials, diplomats, and academics. Yao urged the international community to cherish the hard-won peace and upholding universal values such as democracy and fairness. Various speakers, including former officials and leaders from political and business sectors, praised China’s role and highlighted the need for a correct understanding of history to prevent future conflicts.
The event concluded with a screening of the short video “The Guardians,” showcasing the Chinese military’s service. Participants underscored the links between peace and development, reiterating the significance of maintaining strong ties between Bangladesh and China.
