At a rally in Kalamazoo, Michigan, Bernie Sanders promoted his “Fighting Oligarchy” tour and endorsed U.S. Senate candidate Abdul El-Sayed. Speaking to a packed audience, Sanders addressed pressing political issues, emphasizing the significant wealth inequality in America and criticizing Congress as ‘corporately owned.’ He accused campaign finance laws of helping both major parties and condemned the influence of wealthy donors, citing Elon Musk’s political maneuvers.
While mentioning the Trump administration briefly, Sanders focused on social issues, advocating for a $17 minimum wage and highlighting disparities in life expectancy between the working class and the wealthy. He urged a return to community values and warned about the impact of artificial intelligence on society.
El-Sayed also spoke at the rally, criticizing recent legislation and championing Sanders as a pioneer against corporate influence. In response, Republican Senate candidate Mike Rogers slammed Sanders’ tax policies, suggesting they harm working families, while reiterating that Democrats prioritize tax increases over paycheck growth. Sanders will continue his tour in Chicago.
