Sen. Bernie Sanders is bringing his “Fighting Oligarchy” tour to Wheeling, West Virginia, on August 8 at the Capitol Theatre. The event is free, but attendees should RSVP. Doors open at 3:30 p.m. and the program begins at 6 p.m. Certain items are prohibited inside the venue, including signs, weapons, and large bags.
The tour has seen over 270,000 attendees across 15 states so far. Sanders emphasizes the need for fair wages, health care for all, and reforming a corrupt campaign finance system. He criticizes the influence of billionaires and large corporations on government, stating that his tour aims to address the growing inequality and shift towards authoritarianism.
Approximately one-third of attendees at previous rallies are registered Democrats, with many newcomers to Sanders’ list. The campaign is also actively recruiting and training progressive candidates, with more than 7,000 individuals expressing interest in running for office.
After Wheeling, Sanders will hold additional rallies in West Virginia and North Carolina.
